Exploring Adventure Ridge

Adventure Ridge brings snow activities to new heights, supplying a kids-only snowmobile track, a slope full of slick tubing lanes, a ski biking course, a bungee trampoline, and delicious dining for the whole family at Bistro Fourteen. Head up the mountain at any time during the day or night on the gondola to partake in the wealth of Vail activities available at the football stadium-sized snow park. Adventure Ridge is conveniently located at Vail Ski Resort just a short distance east of our Vail hotel. During the summer months, Adventure Ridge on Vail Mountain offers activities for kids and families.   For a special thrill, try the mile-long “Forest Flyer Mountain Coaster” experience.

The Vilar Performing Arts Center, one of the Rockies’ top all-purpose entertainment venues, is located at Beaver Creek Resort, just minutes from Comfort Inn Vail. The Eagle River’s clear waters provide fly fishermen with prime year-round catch and release trout fishing.  Fish miles of crystal clear waters – and start just a few blocks from our Avon hotel!  Nottingham Lake, one block from our hotel, offers lakefront catch and release fishing and paddle boat rentals throughout the summer.

Kayaking, Whitewater Rafting, Tubing and Paddle Boarding on the Eagle River

The Eagle River is only a few blocks away from the Comfort Inn Avon and offers a variety of water sports activities.  Several local vendors offer rafting and tubing floats down the Eagle, while the Town of Avon recreation department offers kayaking lessons and manages the Avon Whitewater Park.  Whether you are a seasoned paddler or a curious sightseer, Avon’s Whitewater Park offers an exhilarating and fun freestyle kayaking experience. Located just blocks south of the town center, directly under “Bob the Bridge” on Avon Road, Avon’s Whitewater Park is 350 feet in length.  The Park offers a spectator viewing terrace and large flat boulders along the river’s edge for seating. In keeping with the humor of the name of the bridge that hovers above the park, the three water features are aptly named, Baby Bob, Bob Jr., and Bob Sr. Whitewater Park offers beginning, intermediate, and advanced paddling opportunities.

A refined Beaver Creek tradition, Beano’s Cabin is an upscale restaurant tucked away in a placid Rocky Mountain meadow. The dining venue features breathtaking views from its wraparound deck seating area and an award-winning menu stocked with gourmet organic options and fine wines.

Afternoon on Ice

There are several public ice skating rinks located in the area.  Beaver Creek Village, Vail Village and Dobson Ice Arena are all wonderful venues offering skating fun for the whole family.  Maybe catch a local hockey game one evening, too!
